Bad Bitches Don't Cry (pt. 4)

“You are such a beautiful woman.”
Kelechi was taken aback by Rukie’s sudden statement. “Vera, what has that got to do with the money matter we are discussing?” she asked, half laughing.

They were in Kelechi’s shop and had been talking about how she needed to upgrade her business from buying from wholesalers, to importing her own wears. She had voiced that her major challenge was money – her husband could not afford to pump any more money into her business and she didn't have enough savings to venture into importation, and that was when Rukie had made the remark about her beauty.
“Kelechi, what it has to do with it is very simple. A beautiful woman is not supposed to want for money. I hate to sound cheesy, but you can use what you have to get what you need.”
Kelechi froze. “What? I hope you are not really saying what I think you are.”
“What do you think I am saying?”
“That I should sleep with men for money?”
“You don't need to put it so raw. It's simply getting what you want through what you have in your arsenal. There's nothing wrong with that.”
“No, no, no, Vera,” Kelechi shook her head firmly. "Don't tell me there is nothing wrong with that. I am a married woman. How can you suggest a thing?”
Rukie saw how outraged Kelechi was at her suggestion, so much so that she was literally shaking. She realized then that there was no way she could win the argument. Not at that moment.
So, she shrugged and gave a playful wave. "Sweetie, you don vex? Na play I dey o.”
Kelechi looked relieved. “Ah, I for say o. Which kind talk be that one.”
Kelechi lapsed into a short silence, wondering how else to influence Kelechi into adultery. It was the most important part of her plan and she needed to make it happen.
But even before she could form any thoughts, Kelechi jumped up from her seat excitedly. "Babes, my husband is here," she declared and rushed outside.
Rukie looked out to see that a black Honda Accord had parked in front of the store and immediately recognized it as Tade’s car. She became frozen to her seat with shock and fear. The last thing she had expected or planned for was Tade running into her with his wife.
Oh my God, oh my God, she gasped wordlessly.
As she continued to watch through the glass of the store's door, Tade came out of his car to hug and kiss his wife. Rukie’s tummy tightened and whirled into a knot of intense pain. Jealous sobs welled up in her eyes and throat, but she managed to choke them back.
Her emotions changed to panic when she saw the husband and wife turn towards the store, with Kelechi carrying her husband's laptop bag.
Tade must not find me here!
The panic activated her limbs and she sprang up.
“I'm coming. I need to use the bathroom,” she lied to the salesgirl and rushed out the store's backdoor, half-running to where her car was parked.
Back home, she brooded for hours, till she developed a headache, trying to think of a way of convincing Kelechi to cheat on her husband, and also trying to come up with a good excuse to give for disappearing from the store like she had.
When the answer finally came to her, it came as a solution to both problems. It was a bit risky, but it was the only thing left for her to do at that point. For her plan to work, she needed to go all out.
The next day, as early as she could, she returned to Kelechi's store.
The other woman was all over her when she saw her. “Vera, why did you disappear like that yesterday? I wanted to introduce you to my husband. I even called and called, but you didn't pick. I was so worried!”
“It was because of your husband," Rukie responded, point blank. “I disappeared because of your husband.”
“My husband? What did he do to you?”

Rukie opened a picture on her phone and handed it to Kelechi, saying, “My dear, your husband has been cheating on you.”
